Commission postpones Plateau polls for the 4th time

Jos - The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), has postponed the local government elections to Febuary 25.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that this is the fourth time the election would be postponed in the last two months.

This postponement is contained in a statement issued by the PLASIEC Chairman, Peter Dalyop, in Jos on Wednesday.

The statement explained that the shift was occasioned by unexpected difficulties encountered in the production of critical electoral materials.

It stressed that the production of the materials was taking more time than anticipated.

It stated that the remaining activities on the election timetable earlier released were accordingly adjusted according to the PLASIEC Law, 2013.

The statement appealed to participants in the election and the general public for understanding and cooperation to achieve desired goals.

The election was initially slated for December 7, December 21, 2013, and January 30, 2014.
