Martins seals win with wonder goal


A wonder-strike from Obafemi Martins gave Seattle Sounders a hard fought 1-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes in a Major League Soccer game played early on Sunday.
Martins scored in the 8th minute to secure all the points at stake for the hosts after scoring a goal to remember in front of 49,746 at CenturyLink Field.
Gonzalo Pineda delivered a lofted pass from the left flank to Martins who was racing towards goal. The 29-year-old let the ball bounce once, before delivering an audacious lob from a delicate angle which left the goalkeeper clueless.
The goal was Martins' fifth in 12 appearances for the Sounders this seaaon. The Nigeria international has also weighed in six assists for the club during the period, the highest in the league so far.
Sounders remain top of the Western Conference with 25 points gathered so far from the 12 games played
