Scores killed, abducted as terrorists raid Borno villages

Suspected Boko Haram members have reportedly killed more than 30 people and  kidnapped an unspecified number of women and children in some villages in Borno State.

The kidnappings are said to have happened in Kummabza and Gurdlagwal villages both in Damboa and Askira/Uba local government areas.

Sources said one village was destroyed and more than 30 men killed.

“From Gurdlagwal to Yafa village, they (Boko Haram) killed the men and abducted many children and women,” said a source who declined to be named.

He however said one of the women earlier abducted was able to escape.

At the time of sending this report, the chairman of Damboa Local Government area, Alamin Mohammed, could not be reached for confirmation but the secretary of the council, Modu Mustapha who spoke to journalists however said he was not authorized to speak on the matter.

All attempts to get security agencies to speak on the incident were equally not successful as the mobile lines of their spokesmen were not reachable.

Confirming the report Chairman Sector 5 of local vigilante group in the state, Abba Aji Khalil, said over 60 women were among the villagers abducted by alleged Boko Haram terrorists.

“Some suspected Boko Haram members invaded Kumanza, Yaga and Dagu villages and kidnapped 91 persons.

“More than 60 married women and young girls as well as children and young men were forcefully taken away by Boko Haram terrorists. Four villagers who tried to escape were shot dead on the spot,” he added.
