Transfer news and rumours LIVE: Carvalho, Vidal and all the day's done deals as they happen

Manchester United are once again at the centre of attentions as they look to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes

1:25 pm
More arrivals in east London by the looks of things, David Gold has taken to twitter to announce that West Ham are looking to bring another player in before the window closes.
The Hammers have brought in seven new faces this summer and the rumoured eighth is Philipp Wollscheid from Bayer Leverkusen according to reports in Germany.
Sam Allardyce said that he needed defensive reinforcement due to injuries and suspensions to his backline.
Gold even signed the tweet off - we know it's authentic now.

Chelsea today are continuing talks with AC Milan over the transfers of Marco van Ginkel and Fernando Torres.
The Dutch midfielder is almost certain to end up on loan at the San Siro club, where Filippo Inzaghi has promised him the first-team action he can't be guaranteed in West London.
But Torres' future is less certain with his stratospheric wages currently making a deal difficult. A loan deal is infinitely more likely than any permanent switch but Chelsea will have to agree to a significant wage contribution if they're to shift him out.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock and co-chairman Steve Parish look to have got moving quickly on transfer targets.
The Eagles are about to sign Wilfried Zaha on loan, sealing his return to South London and MirrorFootball understands they are also looking at Ipswich defender Tommy Smith and Wigan midfielder James McArthur.
The Latics are bringing in Adam Forshaw on a £4million deal from Brentford but could play hard ball over a fee for the Scot, demanding as much as £6million.
McArthur is aware of interest from the Eagles and would reportedly be keen to talk to them about a move should an official approach come in.
Palace are also analysing options at left-back where Martin Olsson was being considered as a potential signing before last week's dramatic turnaround saw Malky Mackay drop out of the race to become the new boss at Selhurst Park.

Good news Manchester United fans - you're still a prospect to some football players.
Namely Antonio Rudiger who admits to "dreaming" about playing for the Red Devils.
The Germany international's head has been turned by rumours linking him with a switch to Old Trafford.
United are not the only ones courting the 21-year-old, Monaco are believed to have tabled an offer for the centre-half and he is not ruling out a move away from Stuttgart this summer.
“Of course I am aware of the interest from Manchester United," Rudiger told Sport Bild.
“They're definitely one of the top clubs in Europe and they are in a league I have been dreaming of. The Premier League is very physical, intense, breathtaking and there is a lot of goals."
12:58 pm
A short lived stay in the Premier League is set to come to the end.
Lewis Holtby could be packing his cases and moving back to the Bundesliga, this time to Hamburg.
The English/German hybrid has been in the Premier League for the last 18 months with Tottenham and Fulham on-loan but is not a plan of new Spurs boss Maurico Pochettino's plans.
Hamburg Sports Director Diermar Beiersdorfer said: "He is a good player, he's young and at Tottenham doesn't get many chances to play. I would lie if I would say that we have not contacted him."

Arsenal are stailling in their pursuit of Alessio Cerci but they have Southampton and Queens Park Rangers breathing down their neck in the race for his signature.
The Gunners are in pole position but are weighing up his £16million price tag and whether they need to dip into the transfer market to cover Olivier Giroud's injury layoff.
Queens Park Rangers are likely to be scared off by the teen-million asking price but Southampton, who have rather deep pockets at the minute, have been looking into signing the 27-year-old for a few weeks now according to reports in Italy.
Just the four-and-a-half days of transfer activity left, we're going to find out one way or another what is going to happen soon.
12:32 pm
Although Davide Santon has declared his love for Newcastle and the Premier League, AS Roma are working hard to bring him back to Italy.
The Giallorossi are trying to secure the services of the Toon full-back and believe a £7million bid will be enough to get Newcastle to talk according to Il Messaggero.
23-year-old Santon has two years left on his deal at St James' Park and said he wants to extend his stay in England beyond the end of his deal but Roma are incredibly keen on getting the former Inter Milan defender.
12:18 pm
The Ki to success
Swansea have featured quite heavily on the transfer live blog this summer - here is another line from them.
They have taken to their official twitter to announce that their South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng has signed a new four-year contract with the club.
Ki spent last season on loan at Sunderland but has been a big part in Garry Monk's first two Premier League games and repaid his faith with the first goal of the new season at Old Trafford.
12:13 pm
More news coming from the north east of England.
Sunderland gaffer Gus Poyet claims that he is close to making a double signing before the end of the transfer window.
Inter Milan's Ricky Alvarez is close to sealing a season-long loan deal to the Stadium of Light and Vergil van Dijk is reported to be joining from Celtic for a fee of £6million.
Van Dijk could have joined near neighbours Newcastle earlier in the summer but talks fell through when Newcastle couldn't make room for him in their squad.
Ronny Deila claimed that van Dijk could "join a club even bigger than Newcastle", this would be even bigger kick in the sack to Toon fans - the Celtic boss says Sunderland is bigger than Newcastle - well kind of.

Done Deal Klaxon
We're going to step down to the Championship for some confirmed transfer news.
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that their full-back Ryan Fredericks has joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.
Fredericks spent three months on loan at Millwall at the back end of last season and has once again been farmed out on a temporary basis to join Aitor Karanka's Championship outfit.
News from The Netherlands say that will not be the end of Middlesbrough's summer spending, after Fredericks became their ninth summer signing.
SC Heerenveen claim that the Teessiders have approached them about taking winger Yanic Wildschut to The Riverside.
11:49 am
Just to step away from the world of transfer rumour and counter-rumour, remember to follow Roy Hodgson's press conference.
Unfortunately Roy is going to be a part of deadline day but he is yet to announce a replacement to Steven Gerrard as England captain.
And that is not all. Oh no, he's announcing a squad as well - it's like a gift that keeps on giving.
11:42 am
Louis van Gaal's axe could have seen it's first victim.
Crystal Palace favourite Wilfried Zaha is close to returning to the club after agreeing a loan switch.
The 21-year-old England international was this morning at the Eagles' Beckenham training ground to secure a move back to the side where he made his name.
New Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock announced on Talksport last night that the club was close to announcing a deal to bring back the winger and he will likely be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Newcastle.
"He is still developing, Wilfried, and he has got so much talent. When you are a wide player, or a forward, you need to feel loved," said Warnock.
“I've heard it said about his attitude, but I've always thought his attitude has been spot on, so I'm looking forward to working with him."
The new Palace manager also confirmed that the club were working hard to bring in up to five players before the deadline on Monday evening.

Balotelli replacement watch
Have you heard that AC Milan are after a striker to replace Mario Balotelli?
Well another name thrown into the ring by Sky Italia is Fulham striker Kostas Mitrolgouwho had an almighty bust-up with his manager Felix Magath.
The pair have had a bitter row after Magath called the deal to bring Mitroglou to Craven Cottage, "a disaster".
AC Milan could be offering the Greek striker a route out of west London by spending some of the £16million they were given by Liverpool.

Major boost for Swansea City fans - one of your targets has turned down the chance to play for Marseille.
Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli has confirmed that his future is still uncertain after he turned down the chance to sign for the side who finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season.
In an interview with Midi Libri, the French midfielder said: "At Marseille, they say I will play in midfield, but I’m convinced due to their defence at the moment, that that is where they will ask me to play. I’m really not interested in that."
Take notice Garry Monk, if you want your man promise him that he isn't going to play at the back and sign a defender or two to convince him even more.

We're going to bring you a line from Portugal and any Football Manager buffs will have heard plenty of this man.
Brazilian striker Leandro Damaio could be on the verge of making a switch to Benfica, if you believe reports in O Jogo and Globosporte.
25-year-old Damaio has also been put on his AC Milan's list of potential centre-forwards to replace Mario Balotelli, after he made the £16million switch to Anfield this week.
Damiao's move to Europe may only be as an initial season-long loan deal but neither club have committed to his €2million a year wages.
The number nine won the golden boot at the Olympics in 2012 and as a result was courted by a host of top European clubs including ArsenalLiverpool and Spurs.
However a lean spell since, coupled with injuries has seen his stock tumble.

Samuel Eto'o to become defensive midfielder
Samuel Eto'o once again announced his retirement from international football and signalled his intent to become a versatile holding midfielder at Everton.
The now former Cameroonian international has taken the number five shirt at Goodison Park after signing a two-year deal with the Toffees.
"At this stage, towards the end of my career, the most important thing was to find a club that would allow me to do what I wanted most, which was to play football and let me share my experience," said Eto'o at his official unveiling.
"I met Roberto and we had the same passion for football and for how the game should be played, and that's why I took the decision."

Glen Johnson is relaxed about his Liverpool future - despite the impasse in talks over a new contract.

Johnson's deal expires in June and Liverpool have told the England right-back he must accept a cut on his current £110,000-a-week wages to stay at Anfield.

Johnson, who turned 30 last Saturday, has been unable to agree new terms, but insists he is not worried about his contract situation.

"I'm very relaxed about my contract," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"There are no talks going on with the club at the moment. There were minor talks towards the end of last season but nothing else.

"I've loved playing my football here from day one. I'm more than happy here. But obviously I can only talk to the club about it when they want to speak to me."

Liverpool are adamant Johnson must accept reduced terms and Brendan Rodgers has signed right-back Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid as a replacement should the former Chelsea star leave on a free next summer.

Steve Bruce has revealed that his is truly over Jordan Rhodes and has headed to Italy for his search for a new striker.
Abel Hernandez, who has been linked with nearly every club in Europe with a few million spare, is close to joining Hull City after being pictured at their Cottingham training base.
The 24-year-old impressed at the World Cup in Brazil over the summer and is needed at the KC Stadium to fill the four goal void left by Shane Long.
At his press conference before tonight's Europa League game, Bruce said: "We're close to one or two things, very close to one in particular, which will be another fantastic addition if we can pull it off.
"Until it's really been rubber-stamped, I'm not going to say anything but it would be a huge one for us."
Bruce has been very active over this summer's transfer window, Michael Dawson was his sixth summer signing - Hernandez could be announced as the seventh, very soon.
10:27 am
More news from Bavaria and their new signing has spoke for the first time.
Mehdi Benatia has spoke of his delight at joining the German champions from Roma on a five-year deal.
The Moroccan international spent a solitary season in the Italian capital before his move to Bayern Munich.
At his unveiling, Benatia said: "FC Bayern is the best club in the world. I'm delighted to be here.
"I'm really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga with the fans and full stadiums."
10:18 am
One of the greatest beards in Football could be on the move.
Xabi Alonso is having a medical in Bavaria and is on the verge of joining German champions, Bayern Munich on a two-year deal.
The arrival of Toni Kroos could mean that first team opportunities could be hard to come by for the 32-year-old midfielder.
Carlo Ancelotti has made no secret of his admiration for Alonso saying he is an integral part of the Real Madrid team but there isn't a similar feeling at board level - Bayern's approach was welcomed by the Bernabau hierachy.

Done Deal Klaxon
I imagine we will be hearing that a fair few times in the next five days.
Liverpool have parted with a young winger - Kristoffer Peterson has joined Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht on a four-year contract.
The 19-year-old never made a competitive appearence for the Reds but was given a run out for Liverpool at Shamrock Rovers in pre-season.
Swedish under-21 international, Peterson made six appearances in a loan spell at Tranmere Rovers last season but has done enough to earn a move to The Netherlands.

Manchester United transfer round-up
Louis van Gaal may have broke the British transfer record by bringing in Angel Di Maria but he has pushed the panic button, in a desperate attempt to sign Arturo Vidal and Daley Blind.
The Dutchman could be very ruthless before the end of the window, in an attempt to recoup some of the transfer money that has been shelled out.
Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Javier Hernandez, Shinji Kagawa, Anderson and Wilfried Zaha are among nine United players that are being lined up to leave Old Trafford before the close of the window.
With only the Premier League to concentrate on Van Gaal is apparently happy to go forward with a first team squad of just 20 players.
New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino ran a check on Welbeck at MK Dons and view him as a replacement to Roberto Soldado, who could be shipped out before the deadline on Monday.

Liverpool transfer rumours update
Brendan Rodgers has spashed out mega bucks on a host of signings this summer and the arrivals haven't stopped there.
Reports in Spain suggest that Liverpool could be planning a swoop for wantaway Barcelona flop Alex Song.
The Catalan club want Song to leave the club permanently but are happy enough to see him leave temporarily for the time being.
It could be the case of one in and one out at Anfield - Lucas Leiva is on his way to Napoli.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli have agreed a €1.8million season-long loan fee with a permanent €10million option at the end of the year.
We've got contract talks for an England full back and the reasoning behind Divock Origi's move to Liverpool.

Arsenal transfer round-up
Time for some big rumours in bite size chunks.
Arsene Wenger is set to find out the extent of Olivier Giroud's ankle knack but in the mean time, is he looking to bring in a deputy to fill in while the Frenchman is on the injury table?
The Gunners netted £25million after their passage through to the Champions League group stage but their boss insists he will not be forced into panic buying.
However, £16milllion of their reward could be splashed on Alessio Cerci from Torino, who impressed in Serie A last season with 13 goals.
Adem Ljajic is on Arsenal's radar according to reports in the Italian press. Calciomercato speculate that Lukas Podolski could be used as a makeweight, to entice Roma into making the sale
Another name that refuses to go away is William Carvalho but he reported to be interesting Manchester United.

Vidal missed the end of last season with a knee problem and needed cartilage surgery before starring for Chile at the World Cup in Brazil.
Juventus are prepared to cash in on him to balance their books and are demanding around £30m. United have now made him their top target and finally opened serious talks - encouraged by Vidal's admission that he would be interested in moving to Old Trafford.
The Reds are also prepared to fork out on Blind, to take their spending in the final week of the window to £105m. Van Gaal knows he needs to bolster his defence after seeing his side concede seven goals in their first three games, including four against MK Dons, and wants Blind from Ajax.
He managed Blind at the World Cup with Holland and knows he can play in a number of defensive positions. Ajax have already said they will not stand in the 24-year-oldd's way, but insist they want £15m for him.

Louis van Gaal has hit the panic button at Manchester United and launched a desperate double bid for Arturo Vidal and Daley Blind.
Van Gaal has belatedly told the Old Trafford giants' chief executive Ed Woodward to pursue Vidal and Blind, less than 24 hours after splashing out a British record £59.7million on Angel di Maria.
Landing both men would take Van Gaal's spending this week past the £100m mark - and he is anxious to do so before Monday night's transfer deadline after realising the size of the task facing him in Manchester.
United inquired about Vidal at the start of the summer, but Van Gaal did not press ahead with a move for the Juventus midfielder because he was worried about his injury record.
But the humiliating 4-0 defeat by League One's MK Dons in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday has persuaded van Gaal that the 27-year-old is a risk worth taking.
8:42 am
Good morning and welcome to another day of rumour, counter-rumour and counter-counter-rumour.
Yes, that's right, transfer deadline day is edging ever close. Jim White is pressing his suit; Andy Burnham dusting off his third and fourth phones after taking them out of storage.
Not for the first time, Manchester United will be at the centre of attentions today. Having lost two of their opening three games of the season, the Red Devils are believed to be weighing up reinforcements in the coming days.
Stay tuned for the latest goings-on at Old Trafford, plus all the done deals from around the country. Don't touch that dial.
