Newcastle are looking to somewhere other than France for an addition to their forward line.
Italian football website Tuttomercatoweb reckons that Palermo forward Abel Hernandez could be on his way to Tyneside before the window closes.
Back in February, the Uruguayan centre-forward was quoted in Gazetta dello Sport saying: "I dream of Newcastle, Real or Atletico for the future."
That may be the only time the Toon get mentioned in such esteemed company and they're readying a bid to make his dream a reality by offering €10million (£8m).
However the newly-promoted Italian side are wanting closer to €15million (£12m) to part-company with the services of their 24-year-old striker.

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is trying to persuade former club Stoke to sell him Steven N'Zonzi.
Pulis sees the 25-year-old midfielder as an ideal fit for the Londoners to bolster their squad for the forthcoming season.
N'Zonzi fell out of favour at the Potters towards the end of last season and remains unsettled with Pulis - who brought the player to the Britannia Stadium from Blackburn - ready to pounce.
Pulis has been frustrated so far in the transfer market but has been assured the backing is there from co-chairman Steve Parish.
Palace want to add height and power to their ranks and hope that Stoke will sell as they look to push for a deal through in time for the weekend.

Hull are ready to make a record-busting move for Manchester United’s England World Cup striker Danny Welbeck.
Steve Bruce will have to pay around £14million for Welbeck, who has been told his chances of first-team action will be limited under new boss Louis van Gaal just weeks after he started for the Three Lions against Italy and Uruguay in Brazil.
Bruce is after a replacement for Shane Long, who is a shock £12m target for Southampton just months after joining the Yorkshire side from West Brom in the January window.
And the Tigers' chief hopes Van Gaal will make a bold decision and cash in on Welbeck as he re-shapes the Old Trafford giants' squad with players of his own choosing.

And how about a look around the back pages this fine morning? Go on then ...
Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin claims he has a verbal agreement with the club that will force through a move to Spurs (Daily Mail)
Inter Milan tell Spurs they want £10m plus Roberto Soldado in exchange for midfielder Fredy Guarin (TalkSport).
Atletico Madrid begin talks with Chelsea over a deal for Germany forward Andre Schurrle (Daily Mail).
8:55 am
Manchester United now ...
United have made an offer for wantaway target Marcos Rojo, according to the Independent.
The Argentina international is pushing hard for a move amid reports he has been missing training with Sporting.
And Van Gaal has put further pressure on the situation with a £15million bid.
Further reports indicate that the Doyen Group, who own a significant share in the 24-year-old, are keen for a sale and are turning the screw on Sporting to accept United's offer.
8:39 am
Liverpool next ...
Liverpool are preparing a shock move for former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.
With Lucas Leiva likely to join Napoli before the window closes the Reds are in the marker for another central midfield option.
And it appears they could have found it in the shape of the Cameroonian, who is surplus to requirements at Barcelona.
Rodgers is open to either a permanent or loan deal but he won't have a straight run at the 26-year-old.
The Express report that Manchester United are also keen should they fail in their high profile pursuit of Juventus' Arturo Vidal.
8:24 am
Right then, first up let's get into some club-by-club round-ups - the Arsenal first ...
Arsene Wenger is apparently weighing up a shock move for free agent Stephane Mbia.
The 28-year-old is without a club after leaving QPR at the end of last season and is now free to talk to new employers.
And the Daily Star suggest that the Gunners are keen on him with a blockbuster move for Sami Khedira less and less likely.
The Cameroon international wants some £60,000 per week, a figure significantly lower than other more high profile targets.
8:21 am
