Jay Sean Parts Ways With Cash Money Records

Jay Sean has left Cash Money records after 6 years with the label.
In an interview with Billboard, Jay Sean said his heart wasn’t into chasing pop success anymore, and that he was on good terms with the Cash Money hierarchy.

“I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby [CEOs of Cash Money],” Jay Sean said. “They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success.”

“It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and ‘the smash’ when really my heart wasn’t in it anymore,” he said. “That’s not why I got into this game.”

Jay Sean is among a list of artists who have left Cash Money this year, including Busta Rhymes and Mystikal.
