Tottenham land knockout blow with Alli

Tottenham have won the race to sign MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli.

We understand a £5m deal for the 18-year-old is close to completion and will be done today.

They have beaten off Aston Villa and Newcastle with MK Dons wanting him to be loaned back to boost their promotion‎ campaign.

But...

‎There's a few clubs sniffing round Arsenal's teenage striker Chuba Akpom.

Wigan want him on loan and will have another final go today. After loaning out three forwards, can't see a fourth. Especially as Akpom is out of contract this summer.

Arsene Wenger wants the 19-year-old to stay, says he's confident he'll sign a new three year deal (I'm not so sure) and is clearly giving him opportunities now to try and persuade him.

There's a few big clubs who fancy him - Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund to name but two - this summer.

No moves for Arsenal? We'll see...

Arsene Wenger says he does not expect any deadline deals in or out of the Emirates today. Oh, ‎you spoilsport.

The last three deadline days have brought us Mesut Ozil, Kim Kallstrom and Danny Welbeck. Great stories however you look at them.

But Wenger said: "‎I don’t think I’ll be busy. We’ve done what we wanted unless there’s a huge surprise and somebody calls. Not a journalist, an agent. Still, why not? But at the moment, it’s quiet.

"My job is about selection and sometimes no matter who you select you can be wrong but you can be right as well when you have the quality. All the players have the quality to play.”

I'll give him a ‎ring later, try to persuade him to give us a last minute treat...

Kevin De Bruyne AND Mats Hummels for United?

Manchester United are planning a deadline day double swoop for Kevin De Bruyne and Mats Hummels, according to the Daily Express.

The Red Devils have been linked with the duo throughout the January transfer window but seemingly have left their negotiations until late in the day.

De Bruyne, 23, has been impressing for Wolfsburg since his move from Chelsea to the Bundesliga, while Hummels, 26, is said to be looking for a way out of struggling Borussia Dortmund.

The double deal would set United back an estimated cool £67million. Catch up with all the Manchester United news in our round up here.

Adebayor news from John Cross

Harry Redknapp has sparked a deadline day scramble to sign Emmanuel Adebayor.

Queens Park Rangers boss Redknapp is understood to have had an offer accepted by Spurs - and it is now up to Adebayor whether to make the switch.

Stoke are also interested in the 30-year-old who has been told he can leave White Hart Lane if he can find a deal in January.

But QPR are now hoping they can persuade Adebayor to move to Loftus Road even though he has 18 months left on his £100,000-a-week contract at Spurs.

Adebayor is understood to want to move to a Champions League club and would rather move abroad which leaves QPR and Stoke with a lot of persuading to do.

But it would appear that QPR - despite Redknapp insisting he has not got much money to spend - have made the first move to get their man.

Paris Saint Germain were also keen but could not balance their books to bring him in while Roma also saw a deal fall through because of finance.

Adebayor has fallen out of favour at Spurs despite captaining the club last month because the fans have turned on him after he criticised the atmosphere at White Hart Lane.

That has left Spurs ready to listen to offers for Adebayor in January either on loan or preferably on a permanent basis.

QPR blew a huge chunk of their budget in January on Mauro Zarate and Redknapp admits he needs a striker with Adebayor now in his sights.

They have also been looking at French midfielder Yann M’Vila as a January deal but that may depend on Adebayor and the budget.
