Uganda team arrives Uyo for Eagles friendly



The Ugandan national team has arrived safely in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against the Super Eagles.

The arrival of the Cranes in Uyo was confirmed via a tweet from the official handle for the Federation of Uganda Football Associations @OfficialFUFA.

Eighteen players as well as other football officials are in the Uganda contingent hoping to test their talents against the Nigeria national team.

The Uganda team, ranked 20th in Africa, were a last minute option to face one of Africa’s football giants, Nigeria, after Bolivia pulled out of the earlier planned match against the Super Eagles over security concerns.

Wednesday clash at the “Nest of Champions”, as the Uyo stadium is branded, will be the third time Nigeria and Uganda will be meeting, with both teams winning their respective home
games.



The match is billed to kick-off 6 p.m. Nigerian time and 8 p.m. Ugandan time.

After playing Uganda in Uyo on Wednesday, the Super Eagles will fly to South Africa on Friday to take on the Bafana Bafana in another friendly, in Nelspruit on Sunday, March 29.

Defenders: Isaac Isinde, Richard Kassaga, Murushid Jjuko Shafiki Bakaki, Alex Kakuba, Godfrey Walusimbi, Denis Iguma, Joseph Nsubuga

Midfielders: Miya Faruku, Khalid Aucho, William Kizito, Kizito Kezironi, Brian Majwega

Strikers: GeoFfrey Massa, Robert Sentongo, Brian Umony
