NFF approves two years deal for Keshi

Stephen Keshi celebrates a goal with his players and coaching staff during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. The Nigeria Football Federation yesterday confirmed the approval of a two years contract for Super Eagles Chief Coach Stephen Keshi just as the signing of the dotted lines will hold on Friday.
The NFF, which had earlier insisted that Keshi tender apology to Nigerians and the federations’ board over his comments on the NFF president over his contract, said yesterday that the contract for the new job will be signed on Friday.General Secretary of the federation, Mohammed Sanusi who cleared the minds of football stakeholder on the team participating the 2017 AFCON qualifiers without a coach, said the team will be adequately prepared for the task.
He said that Keshi will take responsibility of the team’s preparation as soon as the contract is signed.
Sanusi said the federation will give adequate support to the team in its quest to book one of the tickets for the Gabon 2017 AFCON finals and seek the cooperation of Nigerians in the areas of sponsorship for all the national teams to get adequate preparation for international competitions.
He assured Nigerians not to entertain fears over the team’s qualification, stressing that the federation has resolved to do its best in preparing all its teams for every championship.
“Let me say this that between now and Friday, Nigerians will know who there next coach is. It is only when you sign a contract that we would have a coach. So by Friday we would solve the lingering problem of eagles coach. Nigerians have waited enough. So I don’t think that Friday would be too long for us to wait for the whole issue to be resolved.”
“We are prepared to give the best of preparations to all the national teams. We also call on Nigerians and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the NFF in ways of sponsorship so that we can have sufficient money to support our teams. We have laudable programmes in the federation but we lack the financial muscle to execute them,” Sanusi said.
