New Zealand 2015: Iheanacho, Success, Simon face bit-part roles

Flying Eagles Coach, Manu Garba, yesterday ruled that Europe-based strikers Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac Success, Moses Simon are most likely to start the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand from the bench, saying the trio will be integrated gradually into his team.

Iheanacho and others did not turn up at the junior national team’s training camp in Nurnberg, Germany and would instead head directly to New Zealand for the tournament starting at the end of the month.
“They are automatically coming into the first team but we have to see how they integrate as the tournament progresses,” Garba said yesterday as the team continued training in Germany.

“Obviously, they will sit on the bench before being introduced,” he added.

Garba, however, believed the players would blend well with the team mates.

“Kelechi and Success have been with us and even Simon was with us at some point.

On the late comers’ physical condition, the gaffer said: “They are all coming from competition and so you can’t fault their fitness level.”
