APC Senators Officially Nominate Ndume As Majority Leader

The All Progressives Congress on June 25 officially nominated Ali Ndume as the majority leader of the Senate, despite the party directive prescribing the role for Ahmed Lawan.

Premium Times adds that Bala Ibn Na’alla, former House of Representatives member, was nominated as deputy leader; Francis Alimikhena – as deputy chief whip.

The nominations are subject to approval.
Recall that yesterday the Senate conflict escalated when Lawan lost to Ndume in a mock election organized by the APC, although the party’s preferred candidate, who had previously failed to emerge the Senate president, was Lawan.

The crisis over leadership is also ongoing in the House of Representatives, where some lawmakers on Thursday practically engaged in the physical fight trying to take away the mace of the House.
