19 States Owe WAEC Over N4b Registration Fees –HNO

The West African Examination Council. (WAEC) has affirmed that 19 States of the federation are owing the council over four billion naira in respect of the entry fees for state government sponsored candidates for the May/June 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Head of Nigeria National Office, WAEC, Mr. Charles Eguridu disclosed this on Monday while addressing newsmen in Lagos, stressing that the poor response of the debtors states is threatening the smooth operations of the council.

Eguridu who refused to mention the names of the States and Governors said he wants to give them more time to pay the money before the Council release this year’s result, adding that in some of these states, new governors have emerged and it would not be nice of him to start mentioning names but that soonest he will mention the names of the states.

“For me to sit here and begin to list the states is not okay because we have new governors in some of these states, but by the time we release the May/June WASSCE we will tell you the states that are owing because we cannot guarantee that the results of their candidates will be released along with others.”
