Reports: Monaco wanted Hernandez included in Man Utd’s deal for Martial

AS Monaco originally wanted to sign Javier Hernandez from Manchester United as part of Anthony Martial’s much-publicised deal, as per the Daily Star.
The 19-year-old France international joined the Red Devils on deadline day last week in a move which the aforementioned report suggests could rise to £58 million in fees and bonuses.

And the Star believes that Monaco were keen to take the Mexico international to Ligue 1 to sweeten the deal that saw them lose one of their most prized assets.

Javier Hernandez played just 24 minutes of Premier League football this season for Man Utd before moving to Bayer Leverkusen.

The newspaper indicates that Monaco wanted Hernandez on top of the £58m that had been agreed, but the 27-year-old had already negotiated an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

And with Hernandez no longer on the books at the Red Devils, Monaco accepted the financial-only deal from Louis van Gaal for the 19-year-old, which is the highest transfer fee ever paid for a teenager in world football.

Hernandez had endured an inconsistent time under Van Gaal at Old Trafford, as the Mexican was loaned to Real Madrid last season.

How Javier Hernandez and Anthony Martial compared last season.

He scored seven goals in 23 league outings for the La Liga giants, but failed to earn a permanent deal at the Bernabeu.

While it seemed that Hernandez would be given another opportunity at Old Trafford, Van Gaal obviously decided to sanction a move away for the striker after it became apparent he would not get ample game-time in the Premier League.

Javier Hernandez had a shot accuracy of 67% in La Liga for Real Madrid last season.
