Oshiomhole Denies Sacking Of Commissioners Over Support For Deputy’s Ambition

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole yesterday described as laughable, claims by some commissioners he recently sacked that they were relieved of their jobs due to their perceived support for thegovernorship ambition of the deputy governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu.
Oshiomhole asserted that they were sacked for alleged betrayal of
the trust bestowed on them. He described as sad, that rather than making public apologies, the ex-commissioners had resorted to paid advertorials to rubbish his image.
The governor who declared this yesterday,
during the swearing in ceremony of the new commissioner for information and orientation, Prince Kaseem Afegbua and the member representing Orhiomwon local government area in the board of the oil and gas commission, Mr Sunday Iyamu said rather than hide their heads in shame, they had decided to engage in a show of shame.
‘‘When people have done things that earn them sack, they find escape routes in religion or ethnicity. People don’t know me, I have managed the most diverse nongovernmental organization, mass based, mass financed organization in the black world called the NLC, there is no organization with more members. I enjoyed it and I believe this is necessary in a democracy. That is what distinguishes a free people from slaves,” he stated.
Oshiomhole, who showered praises on Afegbua, observed that his appointment was not based on sycophancy but rather his astounding records in leadership.
The governor said he was ready for criticism. ‘‘People are going to be throwing so many stories to scandalize anyone that they believe will be an obstacle in their un-deserve office.
People tell lies always to rubbish someone, they did it in 2012 and failed so they will fail again” he asserted.’’
