2 dead, 7 wounded in Chicago shootings


Two people were killed Friday in separate South Side shootings and seven others have been wounded in attacks citywide, police said.

The most recent fatal shooting was at 6:15 p.m. in Roseland. Officers responded to a call of shots fired in thee 10700 block of South Edbrooke Avenue and found an unresponsive 20-year-old man. He had been shot in the head and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene, Sweeney said.

Earlier, an 18-year-old man was fatally wounded in Englewood. He was discovered about 4:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Lowe Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at St. Bernard Hospital, officials said.

Other shootings:

About 11:05 p.m., a 40-year-old woman was shot in the head in West Garfield Park. She got herself to Stroger Hospital after being shot in the 4400 block of West Jackson Boulevard. She was listed in serious condition.

At 10:25 p.m., a 27-year-old woman was shot in North Austin. She was on a porch in the 1600 block of North Monitor Avenue when someone on the corner fired shots and she was hit in the leg. She went to Loyola University Medical Center and her condition was stabilized.

At 9:45 p.m., a 46-year-old woman was wounded in Lawndale. She was on the street in the 3000 block of West Lexington Street when three people came out of a gangway and one of them began firing shots. She was shot in the hip and went to Mount Sinai Hospital. Her condition was stabilized.

About 9:35 p.m., a man and woman were critically wounded in a West Englewood shooting. They were arguing with someone who followed them to the 6800 block of South Ashland Avenue, then pulled a gun and fired shots. The man, 21, was shot multiple times and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The woman, 19, was shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital. Both were listed in critical condition.


At 9 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm in Burnside. He was on the sidewalk near the intersection of 95th Street and Saint Lawrence Avenue when he heard gunfire and felt pain. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and his condition was stabilized.

About 7 p.m., a 40-year-old woman was shot in West Pullman. She was in the 11900 block of South Lafayette Avenue when someone shot her in the hip. She went to Advocate Christ Medical Center and her condition was stabilized.
