Lamar Odom's family stages unsuccessful intervention: report

 
An apparent intervention attempt by Lamar Odom's family seems to have been blocked by the former NBA big-man.


Sources close to the ex-Laker told "Extra" that several family members surprised Odom Friday night in New York with their concerns after he was kicked off a July 11 flight while reportedly drunk and vomiting.


The family's plan was reportedly to convince Odom to board a plane to the Darryl Strawberry Recover Center in St. Cloud, Florida. The former Met, himself a recovered addict, even joined the intercession by Skype, to no avail.


Among those in attendance at the unsuccessful intervention, according to the "Extra" report, were Odom's kids and ex-wife Liza Morales.


It's unclear if estranged wife Khloe Kardashian was involved in the attempt at helping the troubled 36-year-old.


Odom reportedly visited in his hometown for his son, Lamar Jr.'s, birthday - a trip that was delayed after Odom was removed from a Delta flight out of L.A. for showing up drunk and repeatedly vomiting on the plane.


Witnesses told TMZ that Odom was drinking beer and whiskey at a Delta lounge bar before boarding that flight.


After landing in New York on July 12, Odom was photographed at a Queens strip club and cozying up to a mystery woman as he toured a basketball court in his old neighborhood.


It's a worrisome development considering Odom was found unconscious and bleeding from the nose at the Love Ranch brothel, near Las Vegas, on Oct. 13 last year.


Falling into a coma after reportedly using cocaine and herbal Viagra during a four-day binge, there was speculation that he would not survive the ordeal.


He has credited Kardashian's support for his survival.


But Kardashian, who married Odom in 2009 and separated from him in 2013, has since resumed the divorce proceedings she put on hold to help nurse her soon-to-be-ex-husband back to health.
