Buhari seeking to settle political score - Fayose

Ado-Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose has described his current travails against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a N4.7 billion arms scam as a plot by President Muhammadu Buhari to settle political scores, Vanguard reports.

He said that additional charges against him by the EFCC alleging that he procured N1.5 billion in properties using phoney companies was masterminded by the All Progressives Party, APC to ruin the chances of his party in the 2018 governorship poll.

Fayose, speaking during a rally held in Ekiti denied all allegations against him and rubbished claims that he procured any money from the Office of National Security Advisor.

News24 Nigeria reported that Fayose yesterday confirmed one of the allegations leveled against him by the EFCC. Fayose confirmed the presence of the sum of N300 million in one of the Zenith Bank Plc accounts seized by the anti-graft agency.

He however maintained that he deposited the money into his fixed deposit account before he was sworn-in as governor and had declared it in his asset declaration form.

The EFCC also confirmed that it uncovered properties Fayose bought in Abuja and Lagos State since he became governor in 2014.
