Dream debuts, the genie from Aladdin and all the other important Premier League stuff
The Premier League has returned to us and so did the drama. Here’s everything that happened on Saturday.

We’re not sure we’ve ever seen a double overhead kick before today, and it was a pretty remarkable site.
Both Abel Hernandez and Adam Diomande went for the rebound in Leicester’s box following a Kasper Schmeichel save, and both seemingly made contact with the ball as they flung themselves acrobatically at it. It was eventually credited to Diomande, as Hernandez’s shot had hit Diomande’s foot on its way into the net.
Elsewhere Ross Barkley saw his free-kick, which looked like a cross, make its way all the way into the goal against Tottenham.

Ahmed Musa bore the brunt of Twitter’s jokes, with many suggesting he looks older than his 23 years on his Premier League debut. Unfortunately the “experience” the commentator alluded to couldn’t help the Foxes pick up a victory, however…
Most promising partnership of the day

Jamie Vardy and Musa look like they could strike up a very dangerous partnership for Leicester. Last season Vardy excelled with a combination of Shinji Okazaki and Leonard Ulloja as his partner, but by all accounts Musa looks an exciting prospect.
The Nigerian found Vardy in good positions a couple of times, after using his skill and pace to beat defenders, but Vardy’s shooting wasn’t up to standard on the day. Still, Vardy with Musa is a front two likely to scare even the best defenders the Premier League has to offer.
Debutants of the day

Nathan Redmond and Alvaro Negredo both scored on their Premier League debuts for their new clubs, but neither player could help their team secure a win.
But with Redmond having big shoes to fill following Sadio Mane’s departure from St Mary’s, his goal will certainly give him, his manager and the fans confidence that he’s capable. Negredo meanwhile is back in England and doing his best to help Middlesbrough on their Premier League return.

He may look like the genie from Aladdin but this Burnley fan’s wishes definitely weren’t granted as Swansea took the points in a tight encounter at Turf Moor.

It wasn’t at all the start Leicester hoped for to the Premier League season as they were out-thought and outworked by Hull, in what was meant to be their easiest fixture over the next few weeks.

Not only did Gary Lineker’s beloved Leicester lose their opening game, but on Match of the Day later on Lineker’s going to have to report on it wearing nothing but his underwear. That’s a bad day…
