Mass wedding: 200 widows, single mothers wed in Kano and Katsina

Thousands of people from Katsina and Kano States converged at the Jumaat Mosque in Daura the cradle of Hausa tribe a few days ago to witness the mass wedding ceremony of 200 couples single mums and widows.
The Katsina State Chairman of Jamaatul Izalatul Bidia Igamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan and former director in the Federal Civil Service, Ummaru Abdullahi, fondly called Tata, conducted the mass wedding.
Abdullahi, who is also a philanthropist, paid the dowry of N20, 000 to each of the brides and provided the clothing materials for each of the brides, apart from the bed, set of chairs, room divider, ward robe, television and DVD sets and the start-up capital each couple received from him.
The new couples also smiled home with bags of rice, maize, millet, cartons of Spaghetti and cooking oil while light refreshment was provided for those present at the event.

The philanthropist told the elated gathering that the wedding ceremony was organised in Daura for widows and single mothers in Daura Senatorial Zone.
Abdullahi, who urged the grooms to exercise the fear of Almighty in their marriage lives also warned them against unnecessary divorce.
The chairman of Katsina JIBIWIS, Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan, extolled the virtues of the philanthropist and described the event, as an avenue to assist the less privileged.
In attendance was a former chairman of Daura Local Government area, Abba Mato, and the chairmen of JIBIWIS and Daawah groups, Imams, members of the business and political class among others.
