West Brom are reportedly on the verge of signing Australian international Jason Davidson.
The 24-year-old has been involved in something of a contract wrangle with his club Heracles Almelo.
But the Express and Star suggest that a deal is close to completion that will take the full back to the Hawthorns.
Should the deal go through Davidson will compete with Sebastien Pocognoli for first team duties at left back.
The Baggies hopes of signing Alan Hutton appear to be fading though after he appeared for Aston Villa in a friendly yesterday.

Yaya's agent has chimed in as well.
"I would like to say Yaya will stay at City. He won't go to any club. Everybody can stop speculation about this," Dimitri Seluk said.
"Yaya will stay at Manchester City 100 per cent. He has a contract, he will work very hard and I hope this season he will be the best player in England."
Although Seluk is seen as the source of much of the speculation Toure backed his agent.
"He's quite strong sometimes, but he's a very good guy," he said.

More from Yaya:
"The fans have always been good to me, they've always been good to my family," he said.
"I want to stay. I will always honour my contract. I don't think about all this speculation. It's a big pleasure to stay and enjoy the next season."
"Everything is fine now," he added. "There was a lot of speculation, you know. I think sometimes it's quite disappointing. I need to do something for the fans, it's important to let them know.
"They've done a lot for me. The team is preparing well and we will try to win again next season."

Some breaking Yaya Toure-shaped news for you.
And it's good news if you're a Manchester City fan. Bad news if you're the rest of the Premier League.
The big Ivorian has confirmed he will STAY at the Etihad this summer.
He has told Sky Sports News that he intends to honour his contract at the club and wants to stay "for as long as possible"

Crystal Palace are apparently closing in on the signings of both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fraizer Campbell.
The Express say the Eagles have agreed to pay Spurs £8million for the Icelandic international while Cardiff striker Campbell is set to join for £600,000.
Sigurdsson made 25 appearances netting five goals last term and was thought to be a key part of the team going forward.
But with new boss Mauricio Pochettino keen to put his own stamp on the team he has deemed him surplus to requirements.
Campbell's deal at Cardiff included a relegation release clause, which Palace are said to have triggered.
Both players are yet to agree personal terms but the club expect no complications.

Chelsea have confirmed Demba Ba's move to Besiktas.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson is splashing out a record £7.5million to sign Brighton’s Argentinian striker Leonardo Ulloa.
The Foxes agreed the sum on Thursday night, and hope to speak to the 27-year-old hitman about the deal immediately.
Ulloa was a big success in his first full campaign for the Seagulls, but their failure to go up left the door open for an exit.
Leicester have been chasing former Championship rival Ulloa since they clinched promotion.
The Midlands club have already signed Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton, Charlton keeper Ben Hamer, Ulloa's former Brighton teammate and ex-England defender Matt Upson and Manchester United youngster Jack Barmby to boost their squad for the top flight.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is having a look at former West Ham midfielder Jack Collison.
The 25-year-old is without a club after leaving Upton Park at the end of the season following nine years in east London.
Collison, who spent spells on loan at Bournemouth and Wigan last campaign, has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.
However, Redknapp could offer the Welsh international the chance to stay in the Premier League if he impresses in training.
Collison made 121 appearances for the Hammers after progressing through the club's youth system, scoring 14 goals.
Meanwhile, Redknapp is hoping to wrap up the signing of Cardiff City's Steven Caulker after capturing former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on a free transfer.

And United ...
New boss Louis van Gaal may have only just got his feet under the Old Trafford manager's desk but he's already spent plenty of cash.
The Dutchman has already shelled out close to £60million on Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer but is in the market for more reinforcements.
Indeed, with the confirmation coming that Michael Carrick will be missing for up to 12 weeks a midfielder may well be top of his shopping list.
The Daily Star report that the deposed champions are among a host of teams chasing Everton's Ross Barkley .
The 20-year-old enjoyed a supreme campaign last term impressing enough to earn a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad for the World Cup.
And now he has apparently caught the eye of an array of Premier League big boys with rivals City, Chelsea and Liverpool all keeping tabs on him.
United were strongly linked with an eye-watering bid in the region of £50million back in January.
9:40 am
With a certain bitey Uruguayan now only a memory on Merseyside the Reds are in the market for a new striker this summer.
Numerous names have been linked but it appears Rodgers could have decided on his top target.
The Express report that he is ready to up his offer for Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.
Liverpool are alleged to have had a bid knocked back already for the Ivory Coast international.
But the paper says Rodgers isn't prepared to take no for an answer in his chase for the 25-year-old.
Bony is believed to have a £20million release clause in place in his contract at the Liberty Stadium - whether the Reds' next bid activates it remains to be seen.
9:20 am
Let's have some club-by-club round-ups first up - Arsenal for starters.
Sami Khedira will not be heading to the Emirates this summer, according to the Express.
The Gunners are believed to be extremely keen on the German international with reports suggesting a £23m bid has gone in for him.
But the paper now indicates that Arsenal are now out of the running for him freeing the way clear for Chelsea to pounce.
The 27-year-old's extremely steep wage demands are understood to be a considerable stumbling block.
Arsene Wenger is still in the market for a holding midfield player with Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton now apparently being considered as an alternative.
