Catholic Priest Commits Suicide In Ghana
The police did not suspect foul play from the first initial examination of the body, as there were no signs of struggle
A 31-year-old Catholic priest, Kelvin Abakisi has reportedly committed suicide by hanging.
Father Abakisi who was also a tutor at the Saint Victor Major Seminary at Malshegu in the Tamale Metropolis, was found hanging from the ceiling of his sitting room.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ebenezer Tetteh, Abakisi was found dead by another priest from the seminary who was paying the deceased a visit.
ASP Tetteh says the police did not suspect foul play from thefirst examination of the body, as there were no signs of struggle.
He said the body late Father Abakisi transferred recently from the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocese to the Saint Victor Major Seminary as a tutor.
The reason for the priest’s suicide is yet to be known.
His body has been taken to the mortuary.
