Mariah Carey’s Rep Issues Statement On Separation From Nick Cannon, Says Mimi’s Focused On Her Kids And Her Music

We told you yesterday that Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s relationship was reportedly on the rocks, and Cannon confirmed the rumors in a statement:

“There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months.

My main focus is my kids.”

After Cannon spilled the beans about their marital discord, Carey’s rep was forced to respond. The rep issued a short statement to Us Weekly saying that while she can’t speak on the state of Carey’s relationship with Cannon, she can say that the singer is doing fine.

“I don’t comment on Mariah’s personal life,” her rep tells Us, “but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.”

Carey announced her Elusive Chanteuse Show earlier this week, and sources tell the New York Daily News that Carey plans to take her 3-year-old twins on the road with her while the couple figure out their next step. The tour kicks off in October and is scheduled to make stops in Tokyo, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Phillipines.

Sources tell Us that the couple have been living separately since June and while they’ve had issues for a while, “it all came to a head recently.”

The couple met in 2008 and married a month later. They’ve been married for six years.
