Manchester United transfer news LIVE: All the deadline day latest from Old Trafford

It's deadline day and the question on Red Devils fans lips is whether Louis van Gaal will add any last-minute acquisitions to his struggling squad

9:29 am
Back on the topic of potential additions at Manchester United, then.
Not to flog a dead horse - there's still 13 hours and 33 minutes for something to happen, after all - but reports from Italy suggest the Red Devils will go back in for Arturo Vidal before the day is out.
This one's according to Tuttosport, which suggests that their final gambit for the Chilean sensation will be a nice, round 50million euro bid.
That sounds like it would be quite a tempting proposition for Juventus, if of course it comes to pass.
But apparently no! Sources close to the club say that the Old Lady will once more rebuff the Red Devils' advances.

Speaking of Danny Welbeck, the England forward has constantly found his name sitting aside the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in the headlines this summer.
But according to the Sun, Manchester United will not sanction a move for the 23-year-old to one of their 'top six' rivals.
The forward is otherwise available, either on a permanent move or on loan.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be particularly keen and watched the striker play against MK Dons last week - although that may just have put him off!
9:16 am
The other big deal, of course, is who will be leaving the club today.
Yesterday, Shinji Kagawa ended his less-than-stellar spell at the Theatre of Dreams - an apt name considering the 25-year-old had plenty of time to catch some Zs during his rather uneventful stay - to return to Borussia Dortmund.
Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are among the other squad players to be linked heavily with the Old Trafford exit.
With a burgeoning wage bill, Louis van Gaal may need to spend a big part of today pruning back his squad before it becomes an overgrown bramble, as well as shopping for a prized new rose or two.
While we wait for some news to be confirmed, here's a highlight reel of Kagawa's time at United.
It's a nice watch for fans of the diminutive attacking midfielder, even if it's barely a minute-and-a-half long...

Do United need to spend big today?
Other than wrapping up a move for Daley Blind, do you think that Manchester United will be busy today?
They're still being linked with a veritable gaggle of players - but the ultimate decision lies with Louis van Gaal and what he feels he needs to add to this squad.
Midfield is a position where many expected them to strengthen more than they have, with Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal two of the big names linked with Old Trafford this summer.
What about at the back? Are Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind enough to shore up what has been a rather leaky defence in the opening weeks of the season?
9:02 am
Daley Blind certainly sounds like a cultured fellow.
The Ajax defender has been in Manchester to put the finishing touches on his £14million switch to Old Trafford.
Speaking about the deal, he says he celebrated an agreement being reached between the two clubs by sharing a nice bottle of red with his girlfriend and parents.
Things are moving quickly as the Red Devils look to tie everything up ahead of this evening's transfer deadline.

Right-o, what's next?
Reports are swirling like the nascent wisps of a bristling waterspout that Louis van Gaal hasn't given up hope of landing Kevin Strootman before the day is out.
It's no surprise that the Old Trafford manager is a big fan of the Roma midfielder - he was sorely missed from LVG's Dutch squad at the World Cup.
And according to the Telegraph, Manchester United will tempt the Serie A side with a £25million bid.

I'd also recommend you keep one eye on our main Transfer Deadline Day LIVE blog right here, so you stay on top of all the other big deals as and when they break.
We got up early so you didn't have to. Scroll down and you'll see the first update was at 6.23am, which is pretty much yesterday it's so early.
But with little over 14 hours left in this transfer window, we need to make every minute count, before we're consigned to no more *Done Deal* klaxons until January.
8:40 am
Where shall we start this morning?
Perhaps with the rather surprising news that Manchester United are rumoured to be in the running for everyone's favourite Colombian misfit Radamel Falcao.
The striker looks all but set to leave Monaco today, even if only on loan, with Manchester City and Arsenal believed to be among his potential destinations.
But according to French radio station RMC, Old Trafford chiefs have also made contact with the French club over a potential last-minute move for the former Porto and Atletico Madrid man.
You can catch up on all of this morning's other big news and rumours right here.

Morning salutations to you as the sun (sort of) comes up on this, the last day of the summer 2014 transfer window.
It’s liable to be a busy one for Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward, as the Dutchman applies the finishing touches to his relatively new-looking Manchester United squad.
If the early season results have told us anything, it’s that the Red Devils still look some way short of their old selves, so will LVG address these shortcomings with some new acquisitions or will he seek to carve something new from what the clay that he’s already got?
Another important question: who else will head out of the Old Trafford exit door before the transfer window slams shut? A lot of players appear to be on borrowed time at the Theatre of Dreams… find out exactly how it all ends here.
