Wizkid is my boy, his song ‘The Matter’ is not targeted at me – Banky W

Nigerian R&B singer and EME record label Exec, Banky W has debunked claims that Afro-pop star, Wizkid’s tune, “The Matter” was inspired by disagreement between the duo during the latter’s contract renegotiation. He maintained that they are both cool and wished all artistes under his Label –EME– would be as successful as Wizkid. “I think that people tend to make things a little more negative than they are. “Every label executive prays for their artistes to grow to the point when they want to set up their own label and they have the ability to do so. It is a natural progression in music.

“I signed Wiz and he blow up and now he is doing ‘Star Boy’ (music label) and that is a good thing. That is not a bad thing. “The interesting thing is to allow an artist to renegotiate. Wizkid has earned the right to sit at the table to do what he wants to do and I hope all my artistes are as successful as Wizkid,” he said on Channels Television’s programme, Rubbin Minds, on sunday. He stated further that as much as there were issues renegotiating the terms for Wizkid to have a label, the song, “The Matter” by Wizkid was not referring to him.
