‘Star Wars’ unveils new ‘Rogue One’ character Edrio Two Tubes

There's been an awakening in the "Star Wars" galaxy.

A new character named Edrio Two Tubes, a refugee from the franchise's highly anticipated upcoming standalone, "Rogue One, A Star Wars Story," was introduced early at San Diego Comic-Con.
Edrio, a mercenary pilot fixated on bringing down the Empire, is currently on display at the Lucasfilm Pavilion area of the four-day geek fest.
Not much is known about the robotic-looking aviator, but Lucasfilm did release some information about his backstory in an introductory Facebook post Wednesday evening.
"Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic," the post read. The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres."
"Edrio's home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera."
Despite the character's foreboding appearance, it's clear the pilot is a friend of the Rebellion since Saw Gerrera is the Rebel fighter portrayed by Forrest Whitaker in "Roge One."
The announcement of Edrio comes less than a week after Lucasfilm introduced the film's new droid, K-2SO.
"Rogue One" - the first standalone in the franchise's history - centers on the cast of Rebel warriors as they attempt to steal the plans to the Empire's ominous super weapon, the Death Star.
The film is set to feature a slew of new characters, including the free-spirited main protagonist Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones.
There will be at least one familiar face - er, mask - in the film, however, as Darth Vader is set to appear in some capacity in the flick.
"Rogue One" soars into theaters on Dec. 16.
