U-20 AFCON: Osimhen, Chukwueze Score As Flying Eagles Stun Sudan

Nigeria U-20 men’s team the Flying Eagles defeated Sudan 2-1 in the first leg, final round of the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

Sudan took the lead in the 27th minute in Omdurman before Samuel Chukwueze drew the Flying Eagles level on 67 minutes.

And in the 86th minute Victor Osimhen secured the win for the Flying Eagles.

The return leg comes up in Nigeria in two weeks time.

The Flying Eagles first real opportunity came in the 22nd minute through Gavi Thompson who beat his man but saw his effort saved by the Sudanese keeper.

Two minutes later the Sudanese keeper was called to action again, this time saving from Victor Osimhen.

In the 26th minute, Osimhen came close to opening the scoring only to see his header come off the upright.

Sudan made the Flying Eagles pay for being wasteful when they took the lead in the 27th minute.

In the start of the second half, the Flying Eagles continued to probe forward for the equalizer but the Sudanese held firm.

The Flying Eagles made their first change of the game, bringing on Kingsley Michael for Orji Okonkwo on 63 minutes.

Chukwueze finally levelled up for the Flying Eagles when he equalised in the 67th minute.

In the 74th minute, Chukwueze almost grabbed a second goal for the Flying Eagles but was unlucky to miss.

With four minutes left, Osimhen grabbed the winning goal for the Flying Eagles to give them the advantage heading into the reverse fixture.
