330MW Molai power project will be completed before December – Fashola


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) yesterday in Maiduguri assured that the 330MWA sub-line power project in Molai will be completed before the end this year.
The minister spoke at the opening of 8th monthly meeting of participants in power sectors in Maiduguri.

Mr. Fashola said, “What we hear is quite different from what is happening here in Maiduguri. Seeing people queue at various ATM points, construction going on and buying and selling all on the street, it shows normalcy has been restored. I applaud the security agencies that have done good jobs. We have today (Monday) inspected ongoing project of 330MWA line sub-station in Molai and I want to assure you it will be completed before the end of this year.”
He said the station would boost the power supply in Maiduguri and its environs, admitting that nationwide, much needed to be done in the power sector.
Earlier, the Managing Director, Yola Electricity Distribution Company, Engr. Baba Umara Mustapha who briefed Fashola and his state counterpart Hon. Mustapha Babashehuri on some issues facing Yola DISCO, said there was need to upgrades the sub-transmission in Maiduguri from its current status to 60MWA.
The representative of Borno State government and Commissioner for Works, Hon. Lawan Adam called on the federal government to connect northern Borno with the national grid.
