Roojuvenated: Rooney is enjoying a new lease of life under Van Gaal
Wayne Rooney says Louis van Gaal has taught Manchester United's players a new way of looking at football - in just three weeks, writes David McDonnell in Miami.
United signed off from their US tour with a 3-1 win over arch rivals Liverpool in Miami's Sun Life Stadium to win the International Champions Cup.
Rooney, who scored five goals on United's tour, was voted player of the tournament and praised Van Gaal for the new philosophy and system he has installed.
Van Gaal has been working with United for just three weeks, but their record of four wins and one draw during their Stateside trip suggests the players have already bought into the Dutchman's methods.
"It's been a good few weeks, we've got a new manager who wants us to play a different style of football," said Rooney.

"We've had to adapt. We've had some good results against top opposition so we can be pleased.
"I think the system suits the team, not only myself. The manager came in and had a look at the players we've got. He's done what he thinks is best suited for our team.
"He's a tough manager but he's been great since he came in. He's given us all a different way of looking at football, which we haven't had before. It's been great for us and hopefully that will continue."
Rooney said the success of the tour, culminating in the win over old foes Liverpool, was the perfect confidence boost for United ahead of the new season, which starts in 11 days.
"We wanted to win games and play well, and obviously we've done that," said Rooney.
"We've won a trophy as well. It's always nice to beat Liverpool. We're happy with the work we've done out here, now we go on to Valencia [United's final pre-season friendly on August 12] and then the season starts."
