Paul Pogba would be a 'waste of money' if he cost Manchester United £100m, according to former World Cup and Premier League-winning midfielder Emmanuel Petit.




Pogba has been linked with the move to United through this summer, but has also been offered a new deal by current club Juventus, worth a staggering £130,000 per week.


But former Arsenal and France midfielder Petit, who was a pundit for ITV throughout Euro 2016, was scathing in his assessment of his compatriot, and said he was 'not a big star'.

'They say £100m…..it is a waste of money for me,' Petit told Yahoo Sport. 'Pogba has a great future, but this move is too early for him.


'I don't like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star to me.


'He hasn't reached the level of the Champions League yet or the level with the national team. I am pretty sure he can do it, but this is too early for him.'


Petit knows all about playing both in the Premier League and for France, having won the title with Arsenal in 1998 and world and European titles for his country in 1998 and 2000.








And although Pogba helped Les Bleus to the final at their home tournament, he did not impress as much as was expected, leading Petit to question whether he is worth the hype.


'People talk about him all the time in the press, but I haven't seen it yet. For the moment, I am not really convinced,' added Petit.


'If Real Madrid wanted this player, they would put the money on the table, but they don't want to fight with Man United for Pogba. There is a reason for that.'
