Marlos Moreno to Manchester City: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More

Manchester City have completed the signing of Colombian forward Marlos Moreno after he agreed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens confirmed the capture through the club's official website on Saturday.

The 19-year-old will move to the Premier League following a breakthrough spell with Colombian outfit and boyhood club Atletico Nacional, whose academy he joined in 2010.

Moreno made his first-team debut for Atletico Nacional in October 2014 and enjoyed quick strides through the club's ranks before earning his debut for the Colombia senior team in March of this year.

The versatile forward has since received seven caps for La Tricolor and played a part in the Colombia team that finished third at the Copa America Centenario this summer.

Moreno will now continue his development under new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who also favoured an influx of South American talent during his stays at former clubs Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The teenager would have been competing with the likes of Nolito, Jesus Navas and Kelechi Iheanacho for a place on Guardiola's flanks, but per the club's announcement, he will now be farmed out to Deportivo La Coruna in Spain's La Liga to gain more European experience.

Colombia's Olympic team coach Carlos Restrepo recently confirmed the youngster was set to move to Manchester City, telling a press conference: "Marlos is going to Manchester and Manchester will not let him play."

Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News also reported that a loan spell in La Liga "has been mooted" as a possible next move for Moreno.

The competition provided by the stars at City meant a first-team breakthrough with the Citizens was always unlikely, and Deportivo will offer a greater chance of senior experience.

Moreno will spend the 2016-17 campaign in northern Spain before returning to the Etihad next summer, at which point he'll hope to have done enough to convince manager Pep Guardiola he's worthy of a place at his parent club.
