Police accidentally shot five-year-old child during fatal stand-off with his mother who barricaded herself in apartment and threatened to gun down cops who entered

Baltimore County Police say they believe an officer fired a round that hit and wounded the five-year-old son of a woman whom police fatally shot during a standoff.
The department said in a news release that another medical procedure was performed on the boy Friday at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Police say the boy was wounded in his left cheek and an elbow.
Baltimore County Police officers shot and killed 23-year-old Korryn Gaines after she barricaded herself inside her Randallstown apartment Monday with the boy and pointed a shotgun at officers attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
According to investigators, an officer shot her dead at around 3pm after Gaines pointed a gun directly at him and said, 'If you don't leave, I'm going to kill you.'
Before her death, Gaines posted one video of a policeman in tactical gear standing in her doorway, and another clip shows her son, who looks into the camera and says the police outside are 'trying to kill us'.
The boy was shot in a limb and taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
One officer got a key from the landlord and opened the apartment door after repeated knocks were left unanswered despite the sound of voices inside.
Police had warrants for both Gaines and another man, who was wanted for assault.
Gaines did not appear in court over charges related to a traffic stop in March, including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
When the officer entered the apartment, he saw Gaines sitting on the floor with a long gun pointed at him, according to Baltimore County police.
Police retreated to the hallway, and a man ran from the apartment with a one-year-old boy, authorities said.
He was arrested, but has not been identified.
Police negotiators tried to talk with Gaines, who they said pointed the gun at tactical officers several times.
On Instagram, the 23-year-old first posted a video on Monday with the caption: 'My son is not a hostage. He wants to be here in his home with his mother.'
In the clip, Gaines asks the boy: 'What's happening right now? Who's outside?'
He tentatively responds: 'The police?'
When she presses him about what they're going to do, he answers: 'They're trying to kill us.'
After saying he doesn't want to go outside, Gaines repeatedly asks what he wants to do, saying 'there's no wrong answer'.
But the boy doesn't respond, and the video ends, before Gaines posted another clip showing a policeman standing in her doorway.
According to investigators, Gaines pointed the gun directly at an officer at around 3pm and said, 'If you don't leave, I'm going to kill you'.
An officer then opened fire at Gaines, who returned two shots, police said.
Gaines was hit several times and pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were hurt.
The five-year-old was  taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.
Police have not said what Gaines' relationship was to the child, but her uncle, Jermaine Barnett, told theBaltimore Sun the boy was her son.
It is unclear whether any of the officers were equipped with body cameras, which the department just started rolling out a few weeks ago.
Gaines posted a series of videos at the end of March when she was pulled over by the police, but it remains unclear whether that was the incident that led to her arrest warrant.
She filmed herself during a traffic stop, and said: 'When you put your hands on me, I promise you will have to murder me.'
Gaines also posted an image four days ago showing Walter Scott, Samuel DuBose and Sandra Bland with the caption: 'Smh could've been me, still can, but I'm aware and prepared.'
