Donald Trump thinks he’d be beating Hillary by ‘20%’ in the polls if not for the ‘disgusting’ media

Donald Trump isn’t even in the Oval Office, but he’s already declared war — on the media.
The stumbling 70-year-old GOP nominee took to his favorite micro-blogging platform Sunday morning to levy a barrage of insults at The New york Times, calling a Sunday report in “The Gray Lady” that detailed widespread dysfunction inside the mogul’s campaign “fiction.”
“If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly … I would be beating Hillary by 20%,” Trump contended in one of many angry tweets.
In just the latest report to indicate ongoing infighting and a lack of consistent messaging inside the Trump campaign, The Times reported Sunday that a “sullen and erratic” Trump often “veers from barking at members of his staff to grumbling about how he was better off following his own instincts during the primaries.”
Trump in the last few weeks alone has repeatedly insulted Gold Star parents, encouraged Russian hackers to find Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails and proposed that the U.S. not uphold obligations to its NATO allies, prompting a steady stream of defections among the GOP establishment and a plummet in national and swing-state polls.
And last week, Trump apparently suggested Second Amendment supporters might want to assassinate Clinton as a way to prevent her from nominating liberal judges if she were elected.
Each remark represented one more step away from the general election pivot many within the GOP had been expecting the mogul to make.
But Trump in recent days has signaled that no such pivot is coming.
“People that are telling me to be easier, nicer, be softer. And you know, that’s OK, and I’m doing that,” he told Time magazine in an Aug. 9 interview. “Personally, I don’t know if that’s what the country wants.”
“I got 14 million votes and won most of the states,” he said. “I’m liking the way I ran in the primaries better.”
Amid the constant missteps, his poll numbers have plummeted nationally and in swing states, and a growing number of sitting and former Republican lawmakers have said they would not vote for him,” he said.
