Shootings break out in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan, killing two men and injuring three others


Two men were killed and three more people were wounded in a rash of separate shootings across Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx early Sunday, police said.
A 39-year-old man died after he was shot in the back outside a the Melrose Houses on Courtland Ave. near E. 153rd St. in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx just before 4:40 a.m., witnesses and police said.
"The guy was arguing with someone and then next thing you know you hear shots," said a woman who refused to give her name.
Paramedics took the man to Lincoln Hospital, but he couldn't be saved, police said. His name was not immediately released pending family notification.
In Brooklyn, police discovered a 28-year-old man dead from a gunshot to the head after they responded to a 911 call for a man lying unconscious on Schenectady Ave. near Avenue D in East Flatbush at about 6 a.m.
The victim was rushed to Lincoln Hospital but couldn’t be saved.

Police also withheld that victim's name because his family had not yet been contacted.
The East Flatbush shooting was the second incident of gun violence that neighborhood saw in just four hours, police said.
Just before 2 a.m., a gunman walked up to a man and woman and started blasting away on Nostrand Ave. near Tilden Ave shortly before 2 a.m., police said. The woman, 21, was shot in her leg, while the man, 22, was shot in the stomach.
They were taken to Kings County Hospital and were expected to survive.
Police investigate at the scene of the Sunday morning homicide in the Bronx.
Police said the two Brooklyn shootings did not appear related.
In the East Village, a 30-year-old woman was shot in the left arm while standing with a large group outside the Lillian Ward Houses when gunfire erupted near Avenue D and E. Third St. at about 3:40 a.m., police said.
She was taken to Bellevue Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Cops say a burgundy vehicle was spotted fleeing the scene.
The shooters in each incident remain at large.
