Kevin Smith Defends Daughter Against Online Trolls

Kevin Smith has defended his daughter against online trolls after she was targeted by an Instagram user who called her ugly and talentless.

The actor and director stood up for his daughter, 17-year-old Harley Quinn Smith, on Monday (15Aug16) after she was left reeling from a vicious comment left on one of her recently posted photos.

The young actress shared a snap of herself at the Sundance Next Fest event, with the caption, "A pic that could not possibly be more up close and personal if it tried from #sundancenextfest the other day."

Her followers were quick to compliment Harley, however one user decided to leave a comment deriding her looks, talent and her movie Yoga Hosers, which she starred in alongside her famous father, who also directed.

"You're ugly as s**t. And that steaming horse s**t of a movie, Yoga Hosers, should be banned," wrote Instagram user kingpsysyphus. "F**k your talentless **** of a father for trying to compare it with The Matrix. You're cancer and I sincerely hope you end up like Lindsay Lohan and dead."

Smith leapt to the defence of his teenager daughter, posting a screen grab of the upsetting comment. "What it's like to be my daughter," he began the lengthy rant.

"But even though I should be apoplectic about it, my kid thought it was funny. 'I'd be mad if I had a tiny d**k and anonymous voice too,' she said, bemused by the bitterness. Here's a nickel's worth of free advice for folks like this Troll. If you hate me (or my kid) this much, the better use of your time is to make YOUR dreams come true, instead of slamming others for doing the same."

"You want attention? Don't make yourself mad, make something original and fun," he added. "Attacking teen girls on the Internet... requires no discernible skill or talent."

Harley called out the same comment on her Instagram on Monday, revealing she was at Disneyland with her boyfriend and family when she read what the user had wrote.

"At first I was like alright that hurts, but then I realised who the actual f**k cares?" she explained. "I decided to laugh it off because no matter what, there are always going to be people in your life that are either jealous of you, don't like you or perhaps are just looking to be negative, but you can't let them get to you because if you let them upset you then they're winning... Kill em (sic) with kindness kids."
