Manchester United finally make a world record offer for Paul Pogba - reports

Paul Pogba
A fresh wave of newspaper claims in Italy are suggesting that Manchester United have made their first offer to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, with a record breaking €124m deal reported to be on the table.

The reports claim United have made an offer of €100m to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford, four years after he left for nothing after a contract dispute involving his agent Mino Raiola and United boss Alex Ferguson.

The additional €24m of what would be a world record transfer would be made up of add-ons should Pogba and united achieve success in the coming years, with the persistent speculation surrounding this transfer suggesting we may now be edging towards the end of the saga.

United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Pogba all summer, with new Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho making little secret of his desire to sign the midfielder who was a part of the France team that was beaten in the Euro 2016 final against Portugal earlier this month.

Juventus have stated their desire to hang on to Pogba, but it is clear that an offer of this magnitude would force the Italian champions to consider selling a player who has been crucial to their Serie A title successes in recent years.

There have been suggestions that Pogba would rather make a move to Real Madrid rather than return to Manchester, yet the Spanish club have made it clear that they will not pay the kind of transfer fees United are ready to offer.

It also appears that Pogba would be keen to revive his dreams of becoming a star at Old Trafford, with these comments at a publicity event banishing the notion that he would be reluctant to make a return to Manchester.

“I think of Man Utd every day,” he stated. “I start there, training every day with big players. For me I am happy, I learn a lot. I thank Man Utd.”

It remains to be seen how accurate the latest splurge of Pogba to Man Utd reports turn out to be, but we may not have to wait too much long to see whether the transfer of 2016 will finally be completed.
