Mustapha 'not worried' despite Wikki Tourist defeat

The defender is confident that his side can move on from their Federation Cup exit and focus on their Nigeria topflight campaign

Ibrahim Mustapha says Wikki Tourists have already moved on from their Federation Cup quarter-final defeat to Crown FC.

The Bauchi Elephants bowed out 4-3 on penalty shoot out, however Mustapha has left the sad episode of that defeat behind him and insisted that the focus on the league title.

"Football is an interesting game, every match doesn't end in a victory even when each team's intent going into a match is to win. Unfortunately we lost via penalties but that doesn't mean we have to still sulk over that defeat," Mustapha told Goal.

"We have left that episode in the coffers of history but our focus to lift the NPFL trophy remains intact. It's a good thing we went this far in the Federation Cup but unfortunately this competition doesn't a second chance but we shall offer something better in 2017.

"Our focus on the league remains intact and that's what is left for us this season. So we aren't going to allow past result of any match affect our mood going into a fresh challenge."

Wikki Tourist are joint table toppers in the NPFL with Enugu Rangers tied on 47 points.
