President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in north-western Nigeria’s Zamfara state on July 13, Wednesday.

The president is expected to launch a special military task force today to fight “bandits”.

Buhari’s numerous trips become an outstanding feature of his foreign policy management.
While many Nigerians criticize President Buhari for travelling abroad so frequently, the presidency said that these trips were intended to secure international support to implement the cardinal progarmmes of his government.

Since his inauguration the country’s leader has made over 30 foreign trips to different countries in what he clarified as his effort to advance Nigeria’s national interests.

However, the president has so far visited only five Nigerian states including his home state Katsina.

In June, Buhari embarked on two-week vacation to London, United Kingdom, to undergo medical checkup and to rest. Since the president hasn’t visit any foreign country.

A recent attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen claimed 15 lives in Zamfara state.

In 2014, more than 100 people were killed by unknown gunmen in the Maru area. A state has been among the poorest states since 1996.
