Wayne Rooney proves he can 'deal with anything' as Manchester United captain wins incredible point in foot-volleyball

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been filmed winning a spectacular point in a game of foot-volleyball during training on the club's pre-season tour of China.

Rooney stretched to toe poke the ball over the net before it was returned with venom. But the United and England skipper put his head in the way and miraculously won the rally.
'Wayne Rooney can deal with anything,' was the jokey caption on the United Instagram account.

Jose Mourinho's side were enjoying a light-hearted training exercise ahead of their friendly against German side Borussia Dortmund.

The United captain looked in high spirits and has spoken of his determination to prove himself under new manager Mourinho.

Under previous boss Louis van Gaal, Rooney was a crucial member of the team for the duration of the Dutchman's two-year reign.

In Van Gaal's final game, Rooney lifted the FA Cup, the first trophy claimed byManchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

But with Van Gaal's departure there was uncertainty surrounding the future of the England captain having come in for criticism in recent months.

There has been much debate over Rooney's best position and whether he would feature in Mourinho's plans.

But the Portuguese gave 30-year-old Rooney a vote of confidence saying: 'He is the club captain, he is the manager's captain, he is the players' captain.'

This emphatic support from Mourinho will have given Rooney a lift after his Euro 2016 disappointment with England.

He drew praise for his performance in a deeper midfield role in the opening game against Russia but was lacklustre in England's shock defeat and elimination against Iceland.

Rooney is continuing his preparation for the coming campaign with United facing pre-season fixtures against Borussia Dortmund and rivals Manchester City on their China tour.
